  1. Grind half a cup of red lentils in a food processor until they make a fine powder
  2. Combine warm water with the powder slowly until you make a fine paste
  3. Remove any makeup from your skin 
  4. Sit in a steamy warm shower for ten minutes to open up the pores, or apply a warm moist towel to the skin
  5. Apply the lentil paste to your skin and leave it to dry
  6. Gently remove the dried paste with warm water
  7. Follow with a splash of cold water to close the pores

  1. Cleanse the skin thoroughly, avoiding foaming cleansers which can strip the skin of moisture
  2. Exfoliate in a way that suits your skin. Some people may do best with a weekly microdermabrasion style exfoliation, whereas others can use a daily low glycolic acid cleanser
  3. Apply serum which sinks into the skin to firm, renew and protect it from free radicals 
  4. Moisturise using a lightweight cream that is suitable for your skin type, paying special attention to the décolletage and neck 
  5. Apply some eye cream that works on any specific issues you have. Some target dark circles and other reduce puffiness. 
  6. If your moisturiser didn’t contain SPF you should apply some light SPF cream or powder at the very end of your routine. Jennifer Aniston states not wearing SPF as one of her biggest skincare regrets from her younger years, and that is one echoed by many women in their 40’s. It’s never too late to start!
